How Safe is Drinking Raw Milk

Drinking raw milk is safe or not – that’s a controversial issue. There are actually two groups of people supporting and voicing against it. Now it’s up to you whom you should give your maximum votes. If we go by the recent verdict of Food and Drug Administration U.S., we should not encourage consuming raw milk as it can harbor unsafe microorganisms that increase the chances of developing food borne illness. And what raw food supporters have to say? Raw food supporters believe that the heating process known as pasteurization destroys the natural beneficial bacteria in milk which help in the digestion process.

FDA also claims that the process of pasteurization does not reduce the nutritional value of the milk. Now whom to believe? So, how safe is drinking raw milk can be judged based on the type of raising environment a cow gets. Generally the conventional cattle farms do not offer a safe nutritious feeding system to the animals. Therefore, you don’t know what quality of milk you’re going to get from the cows. While the heating process known as pasteurization kills the risky bacteria, it minimizes the chances of developing any scary food borne diseases.

Drinking raw milk can only be reliable if we set up a natural or organic cultivation process. Of course the debate over the raw milk versus the pasteurized milk is going to be continued for long. But if you decide to consume raw milk, just make sure you are getting it from a safe source. In the developing countries, where the demand for daily milk consumption is too high, a few unauthentic farmers also use hormone injections to increase supply of milk. It is definitely a highly unsafe procedure because the cow milk produced this way is considered unhealthy and contaminated.

Considering all these aspects, sticking to a reputed and authentic farmer for getting fresh cow milk seems the wisest option. This is why it’s important for you to know the source of your food. If you really want to enjoy the benefits of drinking raw milk and want to ensure your family health, discourage the farmers with dishonest intention and prevent them from practicing wrong ways of milk production which can make all of us sick in the long run.

Drinking raw milk can be safe provided you get it from a right source. Or else, you will only be increasing the chances of developing food borne diseases in the long run.

The food additives appeal to the taste buds of course. But, are they really good for your health? What food additives can do to your health? Wouldn’t you like to know these facts? Food additives could be natural or man made preservatives. Unlike natural food additives, which are mostly derived from parts of plants, preservatives are few specific chemical components that offer longer shelf life of the foods, help you with extended convenience, but spoil the nutritional value of the foods. Time constraint often leaves us with no choice other than relying on the foods with those unhealthy additives.

However, you should know that the risk of food contamination increases when they are chemically treated. Nowadays, the problem of food contamination due to chemical hazards is a public concern. The unhealthy food manufacturing processes, that increases the risk of food contamination through environmental pollution, polluted water and soil, have put public health in danger. We think you should never ignore such a serious issue unless you want to spend millions on your health problems.

Although there are many, you must know which preservatives are more dangerous for your health. Most preservatives are highly toxic. Because of that, their effect on health is undesirable. For example, some studies have also shown that continued consumption of a few preservatives could be a leading cause of problems like nausea, difficulty in breathing and headache.

While in some cases the above mentioned effects of food additives can show up immediately, there could be some other long term results of this toxic effect as well. The long term effects of these preservatives can come up as a poor immune system, energy deficiency, change in behavior and lack of concentration. Being dependant on the unhealthy additives, you’re basically stoping your body from getting all required nutritional substances that are indispensable for the growth of a healthy body and mind.

You should avoid man made food additives. These types of complex chemical compositions have been developed to increase shelf life of the food and increase revenue of the manufacturers. Although these types of foods with additives offer us comfort and convenience, the long term after effects are not at all pleasant. Trans fat is one such food taste enhancer that can be found in deep fried foods and in a few processed foods. This element increases bad cholesterol and thus increases the risk of heart disease, weight and strokes. Be aware of foods like margarine, crackers, fast foods and chips. Stay away from them if you don’t want to suffer from unwanted health hazards.
