The food additives appeal to the taste buds of course. But, are they really good for your health? What food additives can do to your health? Wouldn’t you like to know these facts? Food additives could be natural or man made preservatives. Unlike natural food additives, which are mostly derived from parts of plants, preservatives are few specific chemical components that offer longer shelf life of the foods, help you with extended convenience, but spoil the nutritional value of the foods. Time constraint often leaves us with no choice other than relying on the foods with those unhealthy additives.

However, you should know that the risk of food contamination increases when they are chemically treated. Nowadays, the problem of food contamination due to chemical hazards is a public concern. The unhealthy food manufacturing processes, that increases the risk of food contamination through environmental pollution, polluted water and soil, have put public health in danger. We think you should never ignore such a serious issue unless you want to spend millions on your health problems.

Although there are many, you must know which preservatives are more dangerous for your health. Most preservatives are highly toxic. Because of that, their effect on health is undesirable. For example, some studies have also shown that continued consumption of a few preservatives could be a leading cause of problems like nausea, difficulty in breathing and headache.

While in some cases the above mentioned effects of food additives can show up immediately, there could be some other long term results of this toxic effect as well. The long term effects of these preservatives can come up as a poor immune system, energy deficiency, change in behavior and lack of concentration. Being dependant on the unhealthy additives, you’re basically stoping your body from getting all required nutritional substances that are indispensable for the growth of a healthy body and mind.

You should avoid man made food additives. These types of complex chemical compositions have been developed to increase shelf life of the food and increase revenue of the manufacturers. Although these types of foods with additives offer us comfort and convenience, the long term after effects are not at all pleasant. Trans fat is one such food taste enhancer that can be found in deep fried foods and in a few processed foods. This element increases bad cholesterol and thus increases the risk of heart disease, weight and strokes. Be aware of foods like margarine, crackers, fast foods and chips. Stay away from them if you don’t want to suffer from unwanted health hazards.
